How Often Should College Students Wash Their Twin XL Bedding?

You may not sleep much in college but it's still important

College students probably spend a little bit less time sleeping than most of the rest of the population. In any case, a large chunk of the average college student’s time is spent in their bed and washing your bedding frequently is important for everyone. There are a number of reasons why college students should frequently wash their bedding.
Living in the dorms has its ups and downs, however the downside of living in the dorms is that there are a lot of college kids living in a very small area. This allows germs to spread very fast from dorm room to dorm room. Bedding can have a lot of little critters living in them if they are not washed often. The most common is the dust mite, which is a microscopic bug that eats your dead skin cells. You are also probably sleeping in crumbs from your late night study snacks that you take to your bed, your sweat, oils and of course all of the dead skin cells that flake off while you sleep. This can be disgusting information but all of this can be solved if you wash your bedding regularly.

How often should you wash your bedding?

There is a lot of information out there about how often you should clean your bedding. It is generally agreed upon that you should wash your pillow every 1-2 months and your pillow cover every 1-2 weeks. Your sheets should be washed at least every 1-2 weeks to get rid of all of the dust mites and dead skin cell. Comforters should be washed every week but if you have a top sheet it can be done once a month.

Washing your bedding frequently in college is very important. Bedding should be washed weekly in hot water (130 to 150 degrees) and a hot dry cycle. Thirty minutes on low in the dryer can help clear out some of the clutter from your pillows between cleanings, says Robert Oexman, DC, Director of the Sleep to Live Institute. We spend a third of our lives in our beds. Over washing the sheets can cause them to wear out faster.

Wash your sheets regularly, especially you college students, and you might just sleep better tonight.

  1. In this post you're talking about the problems of the students especially those who live outside of the house like in hostel. At the same time solutions of those problems also suggested in this post. However, I try to get assignment writing service review but as a student i must keep in mind above points.
